Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day!
Hope everyone is having a fabulous Sunday afternoon, enjoying family time!

So yesterday, June 16th, was the 5 year mark from when my grandpa died. It's truly amazing how even though time has passed I still get overwhelmed and emotional on that day. And naturally Father's Day would follow. It really makes me think; I honestly can't believe it's been 5 years. I miss him every day.

Today, at church we sang, I'll Fly Away, and it made me realize that death isn't a bad thing for the person dying. It hurts the people left behind. The grief can be unbearable and as time passes you can get better, it hurts less. But it's still a constant thought. Though I know now that it's a good thing, he's no longer suffering and he really is in a good place, it's hard to keep that in mind constantly.

Keep Calm and Enjoy the People You're With

2 years

Two years ago today, I graduated high school. That is absolutely astounding to me. I'm now heading into my junior year in college, honestly how in the world did that happen?! I was once told as a sophomore, that each year just gets faster, and passes more quickly. When today came two years ago, I knew that to be true. But now, today, in 2012, looking at my junior year, I'm amazed at how fast the year actually went. This past week, the class of 2012 graduated from my alma mater, and with that brought home my best friend! She stayed at my house, from Thursday until Monday, and honestly I can't remember the last time I had that much fun. It was like reliving senior year, but on stereoids.

Honestly, so much fun was had and it felt just like high school, we came and went as we pleased and stayed up late and didn't have to worry about the next day. Though I had work and see had family obligations. I was incredibly sad when she left to go back to North Carolina. I miss my best friend.

But this weekend, was much needed and it kinda reminded me that no matter the time apart and distance that friendships can last. They just need to be worked on. So those friendships that aren't as strong since graduation or since this school year can be repaired. And if it's important to you, you'll make it work.
