If you're not in a sorority, it's hard to describe the feeling that sisterhood brings. You may know it if you're a part of a big family. There's always someone there that makes your day a hundred times brighter. Someone always there to make your life so much better than what it was before you met them. I found that with Alpha Gamma Delta. The words of the purpose moved me, they still do! If you take your time to actually read them and let them soak in and really think about what is being said, and when I did that, I found a place that I wanted to call home. I realized that those words embodied exactly how I try to live my life. And these women made me want to be better.

The saying goes, "these letters don't make me better than you, they make me better than who I used to be." And I really believe that. Alpha Gamma Delta redefined my life purpose and it brought amazing women into my life that I will call family for the rest of my life!

Weekends

For the past three weekends, I have been moving at hyper speed! The first one, I went home for the fair and to see my best friends that I hadn't seen since we all left for school.
It was a quick trip! Only home for a day! But it was a fun trip. I got to spend time with my best friends catch up on everything that happened since we had last met. That Sunday was the godspeed service for my pastor. She's been my pastor for the past few years, she's helped me through a few crisises and taught me great moves in my faith. And it was hard accept this new change in my life. But God doesn't ever give you something you can't handle.
Then the weekend of the 13th afterwards, I went home so that mom, Jade and I could go to our first Big Ten football game! Ohio State University versus Indiana University at Bloomington! Two of my favorite universities and teams! It was quite the event!

After watching IU hold off OSU for a good portion of the game, for OSU to pull it out in the end, we spent the next day driving around campus! What a beautiful place! The perfect collegiate background! We even got to visit my sorority house there!

This weekend, I went to my best friend's sorority date party. Ya know, no big thing, just their Mallard Ball. It was an event for our entire Panhell Family! My big aka mom, her sister aka dad, her and myself!

Then today, my sorority put on a philathropy event, Octoberfest! It was perfect a wonderful fall day! With wonderful fall events! Pumpkin carving, cornhole, bobbing for apples, three legged race, potatoe sack races! And you can't forget the food!!! Corn on the cob! Caramel apples! and nommy cookies! And hot cocoa and hot apple cider! Oh and of course pictures!

Feels Like Home To Me...

This past week, was Formal Recruitment! It was truly a sight to behold! A campus full of sorority women and potential new members running around campus to classes, work, and stressing over the future! But of course, the stress was for nothing, we got a great group of women and the stress can move back to homework and projects and the semester ahead.

Weeks like these are my favorite! A week full of sisterhood! Spending time with my sisters, is always what the doctor ordered! Last week, was no different. The theme this year was "Home" or rather, Finding a Home in Alpha Gamma Delta. And what I realized, come the end of the week, last year I made the best decision of my life! And I did find my home. I feel like since joining last September, not only have I made great friends, but I've grown up. I'm so glad to not only be able to call these women friends, my best friends at that, but sisters as well! And I'm immensely more happy than I have been since graduating college. I thank God, for that!

The reasons women join sororities are plentiful. The reason I joined Alpha Gamma Delta, is that I wanted a home away from home and people I could count on. I was looking for the type of friendships you make growing up, the ones you leave behind in high school when you all separate for college. My sisters make me feel comfortable with being myself. I never feel alone or strange. They are always around and there for me when I need them. I've become not only a better, more responsible woman, but person. I'm depended on and it's something everyone should experience. It's hard to explain, but I'm immensely greatful!

College Football Saturday

Growing up, it was a given, that come Saturday morning, college football would be on the tv all day long! Big Ten was a given, and then whatever other games that were on. It became such a normal thing, something my sister and I would complain about. But we would sit there and do homework and just spend the day together.

Fastforward to my freshman year of college, 2010, and I was faced with a missing feeling... One day, I realized that it was College Football Saturday. Something I had taken for granted, that warm, fall feeling of being a part of something and cheering on your team! Cause honestly, it's completely unrealistic that a person could grow up in Southeast Ohio, and not to be a Buckeye fan! Not to mention a Big Ten fan! In Akron, people don't really care about football, like its there, don't get me wrong, but it's by no means an overwhelming feeling. Something you feel, come every Saturday. Something you look forward to, a way of feeling at home, while being miles away!

In two weeks, my mom, sister and I are all going to Bloomington, IN. We will be getting to one of the very things I've always wanted to do! We are going to an OSU football game! And to state the obvious, an Indiana football game! Two of my favorite Big Ten schools, are playing each other in one of the prettiest places I've ever been! And I couldn't be more excited! Not only am I crossing something off my College To-Do List (Go to a Big Ten football game!) but also I'm going to experience that family sensation in the flesh, with my family!

Go Hoosiers!
Go Bucks!
Happy Football Saturday!
